The firm was formed in 1954 by Clarence Kluttz and Lewis Hamlin, two respected litigators with local ties. Randy Reamer, currently the firm's senior partner, has been practicing with the firm since 1972. Bill Kluttz, Clarence's son, practiced with the firm for over twenty years, and now serves as a District Court Judge for Rowan County.
